Our History
The journey of SCL Nigeria began in 2008 when the then Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation led a trade delegation to Nigeria; to explore business cooperation between London and the Nigerian business community.
Part of the deliverables of that trade delegation was a proposal by some construction law practitioners in London to cooperate with Nigeria in building capacity and develop specialist skills in the area of construction projects and infrastructure law in Nigeria.
The Society of Construction Law UK (SCL UK) among others was part of the entities that would drive the process. The idea of a sister society in Nigeria was conceived to facilitate the process.
We will therefore begin to build capacities and develop specialist skills for our members and non members in the areas of construction and infrastructure projects in Nigeria. Thus; we would blend the local content of indigenous manpower with international best practices in construction projects and infrastructure.
You are invited to become a member. One of the benefits of becoming a member is access to discussions at the training events, academic papers and case law on construction law.
